Loopcycle in the Spotlight
Loopcycle joined the FEA recently and took the time to answer a few questions to highlight why they joined.
Tell us about how your business got started.
With an extensive experience in corporate sustainability, in 2019 CEO Lugano co-founded Loopcycle as a traceable exchange marketplace for secondary materials.
A chance encounter with the foodservice equipment industry alerted him to the specific challenges of the sector, and particularly regarding the lack of visibility that manufacturers have of their end users. Subsequently, Loopcycle became more than just a reuse marketplace, but rather a product traceability platform.
What do you love most about the foodservice equipment industry?
To us, it's the versatility and resilience of the foodservice equipment industry. Touching on so many different sectors, from healthcare and hospitals to commercial buildings, restaurants and hotels, gives us great opportunities to build an interconnected and mutually beneficial network on product traceability. Struck heavily by COVID-19, the industry has shown its ability to respond and adapt, embracing new concepts that will ultimately make it more resilient when facing future shocks.
What is the biggest challenge for your business right now?
As a start-up, our biggest challenge is to continue building on the traction that we have developed within the foodservice equipment industry while also exploring growth opportunities in other sectors.
What are the drawing factors for joining FEA?
Foremost, we joined FEA for their network of expertise shaping the future of the commercial equipment industry. Secondly, their internal connections with sister organisations in Europe, North America and APAC allows us to cast our reach beyond the UK. And we also saw the membership as the opportunity for us to participate in the growth of the industry’s Circular and Net Zero carbon agenda.
Anything else you’d like to add?
We are keen to reach out to businesses looking to recover more commercial and sustainable value from their end-of-life products; and their end users seeking better management of their product inventory across multiple sites.
