Update on Refrigerated Commercial Display Cabinets

The European Commission is currently preparing a draft Delegated Act and Ecodesign implementing measure, following the Consultation Forum on the 2nd of July 2014. The inter-service consultation will be launched in July/August and finalised in September 2015. Related working documents will be circulated at that time.

In this context, the Commission is preparing the draft mandate to the European Standardisation Organisation (ESO) to develop harmonised standards on refrigerated commercial display cabinets.

Therefore, the Commission services are now launching a written consultation on the draft mandate among the members of the Ecodesign Consultation Forum. The consultation will be followed by an inter-service consultation within the Commission and by a vote in the Member States Committee on Standards, before adoption of the Commission Decision on the mandate (following the adoption of the Energy Labelling Delegated Act and Ecodesign implementing measure).

Please note that it contains end-of-life requirements, such as “the information relative to the foaming agent: chemical name of the principal component and risk phrase” and “the relevant information (i.e. identification, access to and extraction) for disassembly, re-use, recycling and recovery of electric and electronic components”.
