Tell us about how your business got started.
Rinkit started back in 2008 as a small bedroom business, with three college friends selling cocktail shakers on eBay. From those beginnings, the business has grown considerably, expanding into homeware, garden ware, kitchenware, glassware and tableware, and supplying both consumers and businesses across the UK and internationally with our own brands such as Argon Tableware and through partner brands.
While we’ve grown a lot since those early days, the idea behind the business has stayed fairly simple: offer great-looking, practical products at competitive prices, backed by great service.
What do you love most about the foodservice equipment industry?
We particularly enjoy the light equipment and tableware side of the industry because seemingly simple products can make a genuine difference to how a venue looks, feels and operates. It’s also an industry built heavily around relationships, and we really enjoy getting to know the people and businesses behind it.
What is the biggest challenge for your business right now?
The market is constantly changing, regulations or trends within hospitality have to be the top two. For us, the challenge is staying agile enough to respond to those changes while continuing to develop a range that genuinely works for our trade customers. As always, challenges don’t mean something bad. It encourages us to think differently and grow.
What are the drawing factors for joining FEA?
The opportunity to become more involved in the wider foodservice equipment community was a major factor for us.
We’re keen to build stronger relationships across the industry, learn from other businesses and make sure we stay informed about the trends, challenges and regulatory developments affecting the sector. The networking, industry knowledge and collaborative side of the FEA really appealed to us, particularly as we continue to grow Rinkit’s presence within hospitality and foodservice.
Ultimately, we see FEA membership as an opportunity not just to grow our own business, but to become a more active part of the industry.
Anything else you’d like to add?
We’re really pleased to be joining the FEA and are looking forward to meeting and working with fellow members.
Rinkit has come a long way from selling cocktail shakers from a bedroom, but we’re still ambitious about where we can take the business next. We’re excited to build new relationships within the foodservice community, learn from the experience around us and hopefully bring something useful to the table ourselves….. quite literally, given the amount of tableware we sell!
