New Member Spotlight on Pentland Wholesale
Pentland Wholesale joined the FEA over the summer and was happy to tell us more about the company and their decision on membership.
Tell us about how Pentland Wholesale got started.
Approaching our 30th anniversary as Pentland Wholesale our story began in 1993 when a need for autonomy within the wholesale/import market pushed the decision to split the wholesale arm of the business away from the project-based Acme Facilities Group. Initially only importing Whirlpool ice machines, Pentland went on to form nationally renowned refrigeration and catering brands Blizzard & Koldbox, along with building a network of premium European brands to distribute through-out the UK.
What do you love most about the foodservice equipment industry?
Being involved in such a dynamic and evolving industry allows us to continuously explore new possibilities and ventures while building on our experience and knowledge within the sector.
What is the biggest challenge for your business right now?
By far the biggest challenge we are facing right now is the uncertainty of the market/exchange rates. Due to primarily working in dollars recent world events have caused a lack of confidence in the transfer rates available which has a knock-on effect on the pricing of our product lines.
What are the drawing factors for joining FEA?
Being a member of the FEA offers clear benefits to our key business interests as well as offering a support structure that will enable us to ensure our products stay in line with industry wide compliance levels at all times. We look forward to the upcoming conference in November to further explore how we can benefit from our new membership.
Anything else you’d like to add?
We are encouraged by the level of communication the group has shown so far and the fact that the FEA’s presence seems to be growing every day can only be seen as a huge positive. We look forward to continuing to develop a strong relationship between the FEA and Pentland Wholesale in the future.
