European Commission: latest developments on WEEE2 directive
Please find below the latest developments on WEEE2 directive.
Firstly, the Commission will host a stakeholder meeting on 20 May to discuss the draft implementing measure on a common methodology for calculating EEE placed on the market (POM) and WEEE Generated (WG) in line with Art. 7 and 16(4) of WEEE2. Please find attached the EC draft implementing regulation including annex I and II on the calculation methods for EEE POM and WEEE generated by weight.

Secondly, for your information, the United Nations University recently published its study “the Global E-Waste Monitor 2014”.
Key conclusions
• 41.8 million tonnes of e-waste was generated in 2014, up from 33,8mt in 2010. It is expected to increase to 50mt in 2018
• Europe is producing the highest amount of e-waste per capita in the world
• Despite EU regulations imposing WEEE collection targets, most materials are not captured by collection schemes. Around 8% of EU e-waste ends up in waste bins
• Global e-waste streams (2014) had a value of around 48 billion EUR due to gold, silver, steel, aluminum and plastics content
