China RoHS 2 Legislation
The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released the two documents.
- The draft “Compliance Management catalogue” under China RoHS 2. Which includes the list of electrical and electronic products which are subject to with substances restrictions. The draft document lists 12 products: refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, electric water heaters, printers, copiers, fax machines, TVs, monitors, micro-computers, handheld phones for mobile communication, telephone sets. This document provides definition of the 12 product groups and explanations on the product scope.
- A draft list of exempted applications under China RoHS 2.
These documents have been translated by SESEC. The SESEC project (namely Seconded European Standardization Expert in China) is a project co-funded by the European Commission, standardisation organisations (CEN, CENELEC, ETSI), and EFTA. It aims to enhance EU-China dialogue and cooperation in the field of standardization.
As a reminder, all products in scope must comply with China RoHS II labelling and substance disclosure requirements from 1 July 2016. However, substance restriction and conformity assessment requirements will apply only to specific products listed in the not-yet-published “Compliance Management Catalogue” (see draft list mentioned above).
Finally, you will find below a presentation on China RoHS II provided by ZVEI – the German Electronic Industry Association.
