Tell us about how your business got started.
Foodservice Equipment Spares was founded in 2018 by Caren Harvey CFSP of CCS, with a mission to be a major source for catering equipment spare parts in the UK, with a focus on service and customer relationships. From the beginning, we've been dedicated to offering a friendly, personalised one-to-one service, backed by deep industry knowledge. Although we're a small team, our combined industry experience of over 50+ years means we bring real expertise to every enquiry.
What do you love most about the foodservice equipment industry?
For us, it’s always, been the people. This industry is built on relationships. We speak to engineers, service managers and kitchen operators every single day, and over time those conversations turn into real working partnerships. That’s what we value most.
We also genuinely enjoy the challenge. Identifying the correct spare part isn’t always straightforward. Part numbers change, equipment gets modified, and information isn’t always clear. Being able to dig into a problem, ask the right questions, and finally say "yes, this is the one you need” is what we find really satisfying.
When we help someone get a kitchen back up and running, we know we’ve played a small part in keeping their business moving. That makes the job worthwhile.
What is the biggest challenge for your business right now?
The market is evolving, and that naturally brings challenges.
As the industry changes and becomes more concentrated, it’s important to us that customers continue to have choice. We believe competition encourages better service, stronger relationships and greater accountability.
Our focus is on continuing to offer a personal, knowledgeable alternative, making sure customers can still speak to someone who understands the equipment, can help identify the right part, and genuinely cares about the outcome.
Staying competitive while protecting that personal approach is something we’re very conscious of, but it’s also what motivates us every day.
What are the drawing factors for joining FEA?
For us, joining FEA is about being more connected to the wider industry and playing a more active role in it.
We’re particularly interested in supporting the NextGen initiative. This industry has always been full of talented people, but it’s not something many set out to join, most of us “fall into it” and then realise how skilled and important it actually is. There’s so much knowledge in catering equipment and servicing, and we don’t think it’s always recognised.
If we can help support the next generation of engineers, parts specialists and industry professionals, that's important to us, whether that’s through awareness, encouragement or simply being visible via an association like the FEA.
