Government grants to install electric vehicle chargepoints – simpler than ever to get!

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles champions the take-up of electric vehicles across the UK.

The world is changing, electric cars are replacing the internal combustion engine. Generous benefit in kind rates for company cars and government grants are helping businesses transition to electric fleets and provide for their staff.
Installing chargepoints can be hugely beneficial for your business. You can potentially claim 100% of the costs of installing an electric vehicle charging point as a capital allowance[1]. Some of the expenditure may also qualify for the new super deduction, equating to a 130% enhanced deduction of the total cost. Electric vehicles bring their own benefits. These include lower running costs, environmental benefits and customer perceptions.

The Government is here to help you install chargepoints. It’s quick and easy to apply for grants to help with the cost. There are grants of up to £350 to cover the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint (see Workplace Charging Scheme: guidance for applicants - GOV.UK.)

Further grants, of up to £15,000, are available to small and medium sized businesses to help cover the cost of installing chargepoint infrastructure. Find out more here: EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets: customer guidance - GOV.UK. Grants are also available to companies renting our commercial units (Electric vehicle chargepoint and infrastructure grants for landlords: Overview - GOV.UK).

To apply, businesses will need to have a Companies House or VAT number.
